Euro's bank draft

I was very this morning when my brother turned up with a bank draft of 1K euros for me from our dad I have not seen for quarter of a century.
I am so skint it could not have come at a better time.

Anyway it is in euro's.

Can I put it through the bank?

Can I take it to a bank with better exchange rate? Or am I charged...need every penny I can keep from it as exchange rates and fees will dent it.

you can pay it into your bank account but it will take a wee while to clear and there will be fees to pay.
