Can I have some idea of how much people are paying for their gas & electric please

Had a bill from Npower for 6mths (long story as to why it is 6mths) and it was around £300 estimated. Have rung with meter readings and it is now nearly £600.

I'm in a 3 bed, end of terrace, gch, 1 adult and 3 kids.

Basically, i'll be paying £100 a month for gas and electric.

What's everyone else paying ??

3 bed semi, 2 adults 3 kids we pay £40 gas £60 electric with southern electric a month.

ISeeDeadFairies · 30/10/2012 12:03

£60 gas £16 elec with British gas. 3 bed Victorian end of terrace

ISeeDeadFairies · 30/10/2012 12:03

Sorry 2 adults 2 dc

Petsinmyputridpudenda · 30/10/2012 12:03

2 bed flat £100 a month electric

TodaysAGhoulDay · 30/10/2012 12:04

£55 per month, me and DS. Terraced 3 bedroom house over 3 levels. I had the gas ripped out of the property because it was costing me too much. Mind you, I am extremely frugal with the electric, and I bought a 10kg A+++ washing machine so I only do one load a week. We don't have a tumble drier (again, they're very expensive to run), and I have no other energy bills at all.

TheOriginalNutcracker · 30/10/2012 12:04

It was me who read the meter, and i doubled checked it, so unfortunatly it isn't wrong.

Judging by these replies, £100 of therabouts is pretty normal. Just a bit of a shock after the estimaed bill really.

It's no cheaper then where I was before.

Ive just been given a tumble dryer. Won't be using it much now though.

6 bed detached - 2 adults, one child and DH works from home.

£80 gas £66 electric per month.

Our house is new though so has all the right insulation which I think makes a huge difference.

oreocrumbs · 30/10/2012 12:15

£95 for both 4 bed, but we are in a new build so well insulated.

PersonalClown · 30/10/2012 12:18

I don't think anyone wants to know mine. You may all hate me!Wink

clemetteattlee · 30/10/2012 12:19

4 bed semi, three storeys. £130/month but we are not very careful with it. Central heating on September to May this past year, underfloor heating in the kitchen, computers/modem always on standby, various gadgets to charge...

Vagaceratops · 30/10/2012 12:19

2 adults, three children - 4 bed semi.

£70 pm elec and £20 gas.

I am a bit of an energy nazi though Blush

TheOriginalNutcracker · 30/10/2012 12:19

Go on PC.....

MadBusLadyHauntsTheMetro · 30/10/2012 12:19

£65 for both, 1 bed flat (single-glazed, GCH), two adults, with Scottish Power. So yes £100 for a decently insulated terrace house sounds about right.

TheOriginalNutcracker · 30/10/2012 12:20

I am going to have to start being stricter with the kids and their electricals.

Vagaceratops · 30/10/2012 12:20

You are not the woman in the DM who pays £3 a month are you PC.

Ponders · 30/10/2012 12:21

£115pm for both (was £140 until Aug when they did an annual recalculation)

3-bed Victorian mid-terrace, up north, with attic, lots of draughts & roof above attic completely uninsulated. 3 adults mostly, but 4 just now.

PersonalClown · 30/10/2012 12:22

Ok then. Prepare yourself...

small 2/3 bedroom end terrace. Loft insulation and cavity (I think. House was built in 95 ish) NO tumble dryer, heating at 18 ish. New boiler, new A+ fridge freezer, the usual energy saving stuff.

£45 a month for both. £15 gas £30 elec.
AND I'm in £170 of credit for winter.

JessieEssex · 30/10/2012 12:22

3 bed very old (rubbish insulation) semi over three floors - £137 / month combined gas and electricity with e-on.

They have screwed me over with estimates vs readings though - they estimated the electricity much too high the last time, and my next reading was actually lower than the estimate from three months previously. They refuse to believe this and keep charging me at an estimated amount. So I presume that the bill will drop a bit once they finally sort this out...

PersonalClown · 30/10/2012 12:23

Haha nope Vagaceratops. HA won't allow solar panels here. Roof doesn't face the 'right' way apparently.

Ponders · 30/10/2012 12:24

someone I know had solar panels installed before the Govt changed the rules & there was still an amazing amount to be made - their house has an old meter, with one of those wheels, & it started going backwards so their bills were going to be negative Shock (only they were going to tell the power company, obv)
