Partner being made redundant

Just after abit of advice here really, the company dp works for has lost work and decided to make redundacies. They only found out today and we are both v worried and shocked about this as it was really out of the blue, ds2 is only 9 weeks old so it's just a horrible time I've been v upset all night.
His employer is giving them a week for anyone to take voluntary redundancy which dp is going to do as he would get double the pay and theres a huge chance he would be made redundant anyway so it makes sense.
Dp is going to try for any jobs available but in the mean time would he be able to claim jobseekers allowance as he would be taking voluntary redundancy? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Thanks x

He should be entitled to JSA, however it may be only contribution based depending on your household income over the tax year so far, and on how much you have in savings including the redundancy money.

If you get income based JSA this will make it possible to apply for some other benefits like support for mortgage interest if you are a homeowner.
