Does anyone know if a wife gets to keep the house if she cannot reasonably afford another one, in a divorce. We have 2 children of full time school age too.

I would guess that it would depend on you being able to afford to pay the current outstanding mortgage alone and whether or not your ex partner can fund his new accomodation without releasing his half of the equity in your current property. My next door neighbour was awarded the house as part of her settlement, but she still has to pay the mortgage on it and it's a struggle.

BTW, I am not a legal bod so this is pure conjecture !
