Tax credits - review - help needed

I received tax credits for help with child acre costs in 2011. I was selected for review and they asked me for some paper work. I sent them bank statements and a child care contract. They also asked for receipts which I didn't have, simply because I never asked the childminder for any. I just received a letter from then saying that because I "have not supplied enough evidence with regards to childcare costs" they have "ended my childcare", I suppose they mean "no tax credits for you!", ie. pay it back.

I really don't think it is fair. I have tried phoning them to hear what I can do, but they are engaged. Does any one have any advice? Thanks!

Can't you ask the childminder for receipts back-dated or some kind of statement saying they have been paid regularly?

I guess I will have to, but will the tax credits people accept that?

Finally got through to them and I spoke to a very nice man (not the person who wrote the letter) who gave me full instructions on what to do, which is basically to do as CogitoErgoSometimes suggested! Thank you!

No problem. Hope it gets fixed up.

I had to do the same and my childminder just never give me any receipts. I know that sounds terrible but I would write out each month which days/dates for each child/hours etc them total with the cash.

I had to provide a year's worth of receipts and I had kept a record. I just copied all thd info onto x sheet for each month, my childminder double che led it then signed them and added her registration number to each one.

This year she has taken my sheet and written if out each month as a receipt for me Smile

My I go only came back Monday from my review, my salary estimate was higher than a tusk and had not calculated average child are costs right to take i to account extra needed in school holidays and Tax Crefits paid me a little lump sum (not much but at least a bit!!) into to my account on Monday!!

Childminders will get into trouble if they don't do their accounts properly so they certasinly should provide receipts. Cos I paid by cheque I never bothered but when it came to tax credit reviws childminder would check her records & provide the receipts. Plus, they phone them up. Easiest thing though is to provide tax credits with all the info in ome go.
