have recieved a letter today from HM Revenue & Customs in Newcastle upon tyne telling me that they are checking my Income Tax for 2004-2005 and have asked me for my original p60 for the year ended 5 april 2005 so that they can check that i have payed the correct amount of tax.

eh? whats this all about then???

I know its self explanatory, but why would they contact me? surely they have all this info????

I was asked for mine a few months ago. I couldn't understand it - surely they have a copy anyway? But I sent is, as you do, and they just wrote back and said everything was in order, I had paid the right amount of tax.
