If you had a job and they paid you into your bank, but you had to close your bank account for whatever reason, would your employers then have to pay you buy cheque until a new account was sorted ??

I think so, nutty. Is there any chance you can open another account before the current one is closed down ?

Well it's not actually me it's Xp.

The situation is this. At the mo his employers are paying him stat sick pay monthly. Problem is that a he has an overdraft facility no his account which is up to the max and a couple off dd's that were returned so basically when his Stat sick pay goes in this month, alot of it will be swallowed up with bank charges.

Not sure how successful applying for another account will be though.

right, I see. I would guess that an application for another account would be refused given the situation. Closing his current bank account with all the outstanding chrages wouldn't really solve a lot though, he'd still owe the amount of the overdraft, charges and any interest incurred. Hopefully someone who knows a bit more can help you out today..

I have to say I agree with NDP, I don't think your XP would have much chance opening a new bank account with outstanding debts on another.

It might be best to try to go in and talk to the bank and explain the situation and see if something can be done that way.

I'm not sure about the cheque thing though, sorry, but where would he pay that into anyway?

I think the others are right about the bank account - but does he know anyone who would be willing to let him put his wages into their account for the time being (would mean changing the details at work) just so he can get the money.

My brother has had to do this with his wages currently going into his (now ex) GF's account - she had to tell her bank she was happy for that to happen (although my brother didn't LOL) and she's thankfully said he can keep doing that for the time being.

TBH I have now told him it's nothing to do with me, but that he needs to sort it out.

He is being an arse so I am now refusing to help him at all until he grows up.
