Child tax credits

a friend if mine mentioned we might be eligible for these as she gets £10 a week. I was pretty sure we aren't eligible as our household income this year, while I'm on mat leave, is about £30k

However, I know her household income is over £50k including her and her husbands salaries (she alone is on £25k).

Surely that's way over the threshold?

i thought the limit was £26k unless you have a child who is classed as disabled. Our income is over the limit but we still get £30 a month because our ds is disabled

I thought so too.

There is no fixed threshold, it depends how many children you have, whether any are disabled, whether you use childcare etc etc. As a general rule, the more children you have, the more you can earn and still get tax credits.
