HELP!!!! I'VE JUST SAVED OVER A FILE I NEEDED IN WORD-CAN I GET IT BACK????

Please help!!!!

I've just saved over a file I needed in Word and I need it back!!!!

Any ideas????

Have you had the file long? Do you do restore points at all?

not unless you have a special file restore system in place (and you probably don't).

I suggest a large glass of wine and some deep breaths. It never takes as long as you think it will to write something for a second time (says the voice of experience!)

I don't think restore points affect user files like Word documents, HB. Have you ever emailed the file to anyone tahira? You would have it attached to an email then. Other thoughts might be to try My Recent Documents or open Word, go File and at the bottom of the menu will be recent files.

try this....

To open an earlier version of a document

On the File menu, click Versions.

Click the version of the document you want to open.

Click Open.
This version contains all the previously saved versions.

kbear - I thought that only usually works if you reglarly save "versions" of the document. I'd be interested to know if it works when you haven't though - it never has for me.

HELP!!!!

NONE OF THOSE HAVE WORKED BUT THANKS FOR THE INPUT!!!

I CAN'T REWRITE IT BECAUSE IT IS A LETTER I SENT TO MY NEIGHBOUR WHO I'M TAKING TO COURT!!!!

I NEED THE EXACT THING AND FUNNILY ENOUGH, CAN'T ASK HER FOR THE ORIGINAL BACK....SOMEHOW I DON'T THINK SHE'D BE TOO HELPFUL!!!!

I HAVE EVEN TRIED RESTARTING THE COMPUTER IN SAFE MODE FROM THE DAY BEFORE I COCKED UP-THAT STILL DIDN'T BRING IT BACK!!!

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
