Deposit not refunded but no proof

I paid a deposit for a bike (£50) on the phone but didn't end up buying the bike or going into the store. After a while I assumed they would have refunded my money as I hadn't come in. When I realised they hadn't, i tried calling the company who said I would have to go into the specific store to arrange a refund. It's now been quite a long time (over 3 months Blush) and I know I should have dealt with it already but want to know what would happen if they refused to give my deposit bacK? I have my bank statement showing payment was taken but that's all the proof I have.

Deposits are often non-refundable, so unless it specifically states on the website or on paperwork that you can get it back, there's not much you can do if they refuse to refund you. Sorry.

Oh :( they did say it was refundable at the time. I think I'd better just go and have it out with them. If all else fails we do want to get DS a bike so maybe they will let us put it towards a different bike.
