Anyone with a Royal Bank of Scotland Highline photocard (and no pin number) and having trouble in shops?

We've got one of these cards and to put it frankly, I'm getting a little fed up of handing it over and shops saying that they can't take it because it isn't a chip and pin one. We still have to sign for shopping and I don't know whether the RBS has any plan to introduce C&P cards. Yesterday, it was in Iceland but it's also happened in Sainsburys. The lady yesterday on the till had to call someone else, then after he said they couldn't take it, he went and asked someone else, all in front of a queue of disapproving customers! These stores just don't seem to be training their staff and it's being left to us customers to put them straight. I don't see why I should do the banks work really. I wonder how many people (like customers who can't enter a pin number because of a disability) are being told they can't use their cards?
