what happens if you re away on holiday when you have to sign on? It would be in the UK, camping and I don't think I could return all the way home just for that one day.

Then I think you don't get your benefit as you're unavailable for work.

CakeBump · 19/07/2012 11:29

you'd have to miss signing on for that week, get booted out of the system then reapply. Its a pain in the ass.

I've missed signing on before now because I had to go for an interview. Its a massive hassle, and one of the many reasons why the jobcentre actually impedes a job hunt rather than helps.

Ask them, you won't be the first person to have encountered this

mumnosbest · 19/07/2012 11:33

You are not seeking work so have to sign off then start all over :( sorry been there done it

I think if you are in the U K on holiday it's ok You have to tell them and give them contact details in case a job turns up ( fat chance) If you go abroad you have to sign off and then sign on again (but accelerated system)

From what I recall, if your in the UK it's fine, tell them the details of your trip, and arrange to sign on a different day.

It's only when you go abroad that you have to sign off/ sign back on.

As far as I know you can go on holiday in the UK but not abroad and still claim. And change the signing on times.
