Last week and picked up a few bargains for Dds bedroom. As I have been painting her room said purchases have been in the boot of my car since last week in the big blue bag.
Anyway I got them out this morning and I see I have been charged FULL PRICE for all the items and not THE SALE PRICE as marked in the market hall.
If I go to customer services today to I have any recourse?
At the time I paid the lady in front if me spent 15 minutes trying to get the discounts added to her shopping as they weren't coming up for the cashier.. I was in such a rush after this I just paid by card and ran out not really noticing I'd overpaid .
What to do?

Call IKEA customer services with your receipt handy so you can quote the details at them, they might refund the difference onto your card if you can't travel back to the store.

Oh will try good idea.

Are you still in that queue? Grin

Cremolafoam · 11/07/2012 20:20

Well I went back to the wretched shop. Gave up on the phone. There was a queue of 100 people and it soon became obvious that they were mostly there because of the same thing. Some had just gone through the tills and were being sent straight over to Cs for refunds.
Got a refund after 1 hour 20 minutes and a

All that for £12!?!

Bollocks to that!

CogitoErgoSometimes · 12/07/2012 08:31

I'm sure, if Dante had experienced the soul-sucking, time-killing misery that is the IKEA returns desk/customer service, he would have created a special circle of hell just for them.

Cremolafoam · 12/07/2012 10:39

Worse than buying school shoes in Clarks at the end of August.
And that's saying something Grin

Ikea is the 5th circle of hell cog...didn't you know that!?
:)

CogitoErgoSometimes · 12/07/2012 18:25

I suspected as much. Seriously though, I quite enjoy the IKEA experience. Ambling through the room sets, idly picking up yet more tealights and shifting a few flat-packs onto a trolley in the warehouse bit... very calming. But get to that soulless checkout hall with grim-faced staff and metal barriers and you immediately understand how a pig feels on arrival at an abattoir .... . You'd think IKEA's management would have worked out something better by now.

RoxyRobin · 12/07/2012 18:44

Have not been able to even contemplate a visit to IKEA since a Saturday trip four years ago when I was struck down with a sudden episode of excrutiating gallbladder pain while stuck in the one-way room-set traffic.

What a nightmare. I thought I'd never get out of the wretched place. Dh was trying to steer my poor bent-double bod past hordes of loved-up young couples debating which Billy book-case finish to choose. I just felt like climbing into one of the beds and expiring.

I now just go to John Lewis and damn the expense.

Cremolafoam · 12/07/2012 20:11

Cogito ergo

Checkout is not very Swedish is it?
U would think it would be the epitome of Scandinavian efficiency.
Pah! Angry

DH's company was taken over by a Swedish company a few years ago. Efficiency is not the word he would apply to his Swedish colleagues.

The Germans, now ...

starfishmummy · 12/07/2012 22:33

Roxy, I can relate to that having realised half way round that i needed to get to a loo fast.
Dh said he knew i was really ill when i said we needed to leave, and we hadn't bought anything!
