Help we're remortgaging and I'm being a bit thick I think. We applied and have been approved to borrow £150k on a tracker basis. The fees are just over £1k which we want to pay up front rather than adding to the mortgage. The offer letter says that the amount released at completion will be £148975 ie £150k less the fees. I understand that this means we won't need to give them the £1025 fees separately which makes sense but the offer still refers to the mortgage being for £150 still and I'm worried that we'll end up paying interest for the next 25 years on the fees which is exactly what we wanted to avoid. Have tried phoning the post office who are the broker but they didn't seem to understand what I was asking.

Do you have the facility to make overpayments? If so I would have said that the easiest thing would be to just overpay by the sum of the arrangement fee straight away.
