Had a letter through today saying I am owed a tax refund. Does anyone know how long it takes for the cheque to arrive?

Mine arrived about 3 days later.

It can take anything up to 2 weeks. Some arrive quite promptly afterwards but some can be delayed for various reasons. If you haven't received your cheque after 10 working days ring HMRC and find out what the delay is. Sometimes it may be a reason that can't be resolved quickly and could take a further 4 weeks. Hopefully you already received yours and are out spending it :-)

Hi, I may be very dim but can anyone explain why a PAYE employee, only perk is medical cover, owe nearly £3k on tax? DH is higher rate payer. Is it because the company who do the payroll do not keep up with government changes to allowances etc? and if so is there anything we can do about it (other than complain to said payroll company)? any advice welcome!
