In the throes of financial settlement/divorce.

My share of pension is about 25,000. i have been offered lump sum of £2,500 rather than pension payments in future. Should I accept?

Many thanks for any advice.

How close are you to retirement? £25,000 buying an annuity if you were retiring today would get you an income of about £110/month. So if you are in your fifties or sixties, a £2,500 lump sum doesn't look very good value. If you don't plan to retire for many years then £2,500 might be reasonable compensation that would enable you to start your own fund. Do you have a financial adviser?

Thanks for the reply.

About 20 years off retirement. It wouldn't be index linked then?

No, no financial advisor - never any surplus finances to advise on iyswim! (and no pension, gulp)
