HELP, PLEASE! JOB SEEKERS ALLOWANCE PROBLEM!

Anyone there ever claimed jobseekers allowance when partner was self employed or vice versa?

We're having a nightmare getting money from them. Dh lost his job on xmas eve and we've been struggling (big time!) since. The delay seems to be because I'm self-employed (even though I earn £546 a month before expenses)

It's been a total nightmare and I'm beginning to wonder if they are dealing with our claim correctly??? :(

I've only ever claimed when single

I thought if you claimed contribution-based JSA then your earnings wouldn't matter

Which have you claimed income or contribution based?

For some reason they are saying 'bit of both'??? I thought because he's paid NI contributions for over 2 years, it should be contributary based therefore I don't matter but they reckon because I'm self-employed, it's different?

There is no bit of both option as far as I know
It is one or the other. What did it say on the form he filled in?

It looks like if he was self employed it would matter but he wasn't was he?
