I have just used moneysupermarket.com to switch from British gas to EDF, do i need to contact British gas to cancel?

No. The new company will do all the paperwork. British Gas will probably contact you to say 'we're sorry you're leaving us' and, if you don't change your mind, you'll then get a final bill from them.

OK thanks

Can I please warn you to check your EDF bills carefully?

We switched a year ago and every single quarter they have added a note to our bill to say that they are increasing our direct debit. Every quarter I have worked out our average usage and they have had no grounds to increase it so I've had to call and get them to keep it the same.

It's infuriating!! And if I hadn't checked we'd have been paying £20 a month more than currently based on nothing.

they will do it for you and it can take 4-6 weeks before the supply changes over. Dont cancel your direct debit until your final bill has been taken from your account
