Apparntly our names are on the deeds to a house belonging to FIL (who has passed away)

land registry if registered with them

Did FIL leave a will? Who were named as executors? Is there a solicitor dealing with his estate?

They would be the first port of call. Otherwise, you can check with the Land Registry as zippi says.

If it is in your name you can do a search with the Land Registry on your own names (as opposed to the house address) if you don't have that. www.landregistry.org.uk
