Child Benefit.....am i being thick?????

Ok so help me out please!!!
I had a baby on 19th Dec and registered for child benefit in Jan. I recieved a payment of just over £30 on 24th Jan and havent recieved anything since. As i already have a child i should be getting £28.40 per week. I cant work out why they paid me the £30 in Jan and also why i havent recieved any other money or any backdated amounts since. Am i thick or do you think i need to ring them???

Are you getting the payments every 4 weeks?
They only do weekly payments for single parents.

yes, i was getting weekly payments but they have changed me to monthly now does that make a differecne then?

i guessed it should be 4 weekly but nothing went in on Tuesday which would have been 4 weeks from last payment.

they must have paid for the week ending 27th jan, and then the next payment will be four weeks from then.

My CB usually goes into my bank account on Mondays every 4 weeks. Did you give them your bank details and do you have more than one account?
No harm in phoning them. It also depends on what day your baby was born, can't remember exactly how it works but I remember reading it in the pack when DD was born (7 years ago!)

I would phone them tomorrow (if nothing goes in tomorrow) and find out when the money is going in and how much. I had to phone them once because my CB hadn't gone in, because they thought I had changed my surname, I hadn't but they did stop the payments.

I think i have just worked out whats happened, they have paid you 4 weeks money on the 24th jan for the baby, but not for your other child. They have messed up phone them

Hiya hun,give them a call,i got mine last month,the full amount then the same day it was the back dated amount xxhth

hope thats not whats happened!!!!!! Am finding it a bit tough financially at the moment due to being an maternity leave and was banking on back dated money from them.

OK now does anyone have the number for me ((cheeky))))

BUT the £30 odd doesnt add upt o 4 weeks money for DD cos its 11.40 per week for her!!
No wonder im confused!

If you get it monthly hun it works out to £113 every 4 wks. You should have had more money as I set mine up in jan and got £70 back pay and have since had my 4 weekly payments aswell.
