advice please

i have been self employed for the last 3/4 years but had my dd and found it a far too much to keep my business and it started to lose money etc. so i have now giving it up. but what i would like help with please is to know if there are any benifits we could claim, i have a dd of nearly 8 months and my dp works ft. any help greatfull thanks.

Depends on your dp's salary - if its low, then income support is a possibility, but unlikely.

Child tax credit - hopefully you are getting this already, but when you tell them change of circumstances it may increase.

thanks for your reply. no we are not recieving child tax credit didn't know i could get it when self employed, obviously im not now so will look into it. my dp roughly earns 19/20k a year

You can definitely get it when self employed, any household earning under 50k (approx.) can get a little.

On 20k i'd imagine you'd get at least £50 a months or so.

Look on the inlandrevenue sight for more details - although i know they were having probs and took it down for a while, may be back up now though.
