Working Tax Credit payment reduced without notice.

This happened in April and I assumed it was some kind of end-of-tax-year-adjustment. Reduced from £312 pm to approx £220. I have two dc, both at school and the Child Tax Credit payment hasn't altered.

I have been paid again today and it's still almost £100 less than usual.

As far as I'm aware, nothing in my circs has changed and I will definitely phone them tomorrow but it's bugging me now!

Anyone else had this happen or know why it might be?

The rules and thresholds for tax credit awards changed in April. You can check if your award is correct by running your stats through the Turn2Us Benefits Checker or the HMRC tax credit calculator. Good luck

I managed to get through to them this evening.

It's to do with last year's income being lower than this year's estimated income, due to me changing jobs in May last year.

I have however, over-estimated slightly ( on this year's salary) by about £500 so it will be adjusted - phew!

I'll still be about £50.00 per month worse off but to counter that, have slightly more child tax credits but not to the tune of £50 pm.

Ours also went down.

I agree with trinni...I think it is to do with a difference in what they expect you to earn this tax year compared to what you earned last tax year.

You may be due an adjustment in any other benefits you get which may make up some shortfall. We now have an increased amount of housing benefit because our income has reduced significantly due to working tax credits going down.
