My husband has 4 years no claims discount from July 2009
His insurance company has said this expires after 2 years and cannot be used
Is this correct??

No it shouldn't be right.

I transferred my 4 years NCD in January. My mum has 7 years. I think what you DH has been told is bullshit. What company is it?

craftynclothy · 04/05/2012 16:58

Do you mean he had built up 4 years no claims in July 2009 and hasn't had insurance since then?

Svrider · 04/05/2012 17:04

Insurance company is autodirect
Yes, cloth he had insurance that expired in2009
He has been insured as a named driver on my policy
He now wants to insure in his on policy for his "new" car

Yes, then, afaik it is correct. Some (most?) insurers will say it expires after 2 years.

However some insurers will take into account that he has continued to drive since then as a named driver on your policy so it's worth shopping around. Another option is to look at whether a 2 car policy would be cheaper

Ok thanks clothy
