Bastard parking fine from bastard NCP. Do I have to pay?

Am so pissed off that they fined me for this! I had already prepaid my parking (£9.20) and when I turned up at the train station car park there were no spaces at all. I had 10 minutes until my train left and am 32wks preg so not very able to park far away and jog/run to catch it... so I did what lots of other people had also done and parked along the edge of the car park, NOT in anyone's way I might add.

When I got back there was a £35 parking ticket. I have appealed once stating all the above and they are upholding the charge saying just because you pay in advance doesn't mean you will get a space. They won't even discount the sodding £9.20 I wasted on a space that didn't exist.

Am tempted to just leave it.... but would I get bailiffs on my doorstep?

Not sure of this, but when DH got a ticket on a motorway service station carpark, people on here said that the only people who could charge a fine were the Council and the Courts. NCP are neither. They are (if I recall correctly) only allowed to ask you to make good any loss they had incurred - and as you'd paid your ticket, I would say they incurred no loss.

After a series of correspondence, we put this info into a letter, and haven't heard from them since.
