Grateful for any advice regarding letter from debt collection agency

Hi, hope this is in the right place. Would be grateful of any advice please.

Have had a letter and a number of texts today from a debt collection agency - it is an error and I do not owe the money (and will be complaining profusely) but I would like to know whether or not this letter/collection will somehow appear on my credit report? Not really sure how credit reports work tbh but will this show up as a black mark/payment default/whatever it is called!

Thanks for any advice.

If you have received a letter it is likely it will show up as you have defaulted on a payment, however you can apply to have incorrect information, and have it rectified, so i wouldnt stress too much about it. It may well be worth requesting a copy of your credit report.

You should have a look on www.moneysavingexpert.com there is loads of advice and info about this kind of thing on their forums.
