Someone close to me has had their identity stolen and is now trying to clear up the mess of new open lines of credit etc. I think it probably started with some stolen mail (all mail for the building they live in sits in communal hallway until collected....).
They are currently trying to deal w Experian to ensure that a block is put against their name to stop any further lines of credit and to try and identify all attempts to operate as them to date (which seems to be the most difficult thing).
They have been to CAB who were sympathetic, but not a lot of help. The police aren't interested.
Does anyone have any experience of anything else they should be doing to try and sort this out or words to wisdom to impart? All VERY gratefully received, thank you!
