Dh has just found out he has lost his job - advice please.

Just wanted some practical money saving advice please from anyone.

Luxuries are out of the window obviously and I'm looking at shopping at cheaper stores for our groceries any other ideas?

Check out www.moneysavingexpert.com this gives lots of tips on saving money and has links to other sites where you can find out special offers in shops eg. buy on get one free. If you have time to shop around, you can reduce your bills quite a lot - bogof washing powder etc

as a contractor, is your dh paying tax at source or does he get a tax bill? If at source, could he be due a refund as he won't be earning for the whole financial year?

i'm rubbish at tax so i've no idea whether this is a real idea or not, sorry

Has dh been to the job centre yet what did they say. If you have any problems paying you gas etc I would get in touch with them and expalin the situation.
Did you sit down and work out your out goings.
