changed my car 2 weeks ago and they issued a 14 day temporary cover note and told me my insurance certificate would follow

I've not recieved it so went on their website to print a copy and it is showning it has been cancelled and I have no idea why?
the payment has cleared from my account

what do I do?????

can't ring them until tomorrow about an hour after I was due to set off on a journey in it!

Are you still covered under the temporary cover note? In which case you'll defintely still be covered. If you've had the money taken from your account then I think you can reasonably assume that they've entered into a contract with you, i.e. that you are insured.

Having said that, if it was me I'd delay the journey for an hour so I could phone them to reinstate it. Probably just a computer error but worth making sure just in case.

cover note expired at midnight -can't delay the journey, it's for a job interview

I have had so many problems with this company I really could cry

In that case I would be tempted to go anyway and stop off the minute it hits 9am (or whenever they open) to ring and get it sorted.

As I said before, the fact that they have taken payment could be construed as them having entered into a contract and insured you, even though you haven't actually received the paperwork. That would be my argument anyway, should anything happen that required me to claim.

Disclaimer: I am not a legal person, I'm just used to arguing and standing my ground when I get ripped off.

Were you supposed to send them proof of no claims within 14 days?

If they have not received it then it is pretty standard practice that your policy will be cancelled I think.

my car was written off through a no fault accident, this car is the replacement

they refunded the balance for the year and told me to ring back when I had a new car which I did

they have then taken the same amount of money out of my account to cover me for the remainder of the year and told me proper certificate was on it's way -they didn't ask for any documentation

I'm so hacked off and could cry, in fact I think I will

Sad

I work at an insurer - when we right off a car the policy is cancelled and a new one set up for the new car - have you checked the pol no on the cover note and the pol no on your other docs are the same? It could be you have a new pol no?

Hi managed to sort it out

policy number is the same as the old one, I was insured -certificate arrived in the post today but they don't know why I can't view it online?

all very stressful
