Bank don't believe me about fraudulent transactions! HELP!

canihavesome · 03/02/2012 18:43

Between Christmas and new year I had 4 fraudulent transactions on my card (Easyjet, BA and national express and a car hire company)

HSBC said they would refund the money, which they did but now they are saying they are going to take the money back for one of them (easy jet) which is over £300 as the 'transaction seems to be correct'

I can't phone them until mon morning.

They have sent me a bit of paper from easy jet which has my name, address and card number on but the passenger names are obviously different and my surname is mis-spelt in some places, although not where they say cardholder name.

I think they will now come after me for the other stuff which comes to over 1K.

Any advice?

I have to go pick up dcs now but will be back soon.

Go back to them, the rules changes with the introduction of BCOBS about a year to 18 months ago. Unless they have reasonably concrete proof that you did make the transaction, they have to refund it, although you may find that some banks aren't completely aware of the rule changes. Chase it up again on Monday, if you don't get joy ring the FOS and start the ball rolling with them

I would post this on forums.moneysavingexpert.com/ ,there are some helpful people over there who seem to know what they are talking about.

Thanks everyone.

I went to the bank today. It is all 4 transactions totalling over £1400. They can't do anything until monday so I am going back then. I have posted on money saving expert and reported it to Action Fraud. I am swinging between wild panic thinking how can I possibly prove it wasn't me and complete confidence that it will all be refunded. I just don't understand how you can buy things online and go and collect them, so there is no need to have proof of address, without having to produce the card. I can't believe you can hire a car with no-one caring if you are a crook or not.
