Interest payments from DWP

Hi

when I had to give my job up for ds disability 5 years ago I had to wait 39 weeks whilst on income support and then recieved some help towards the interest of the mortgage from DWP.

I am thinking of returning to work towards end of year if ds settles in school. If ds has to come back out of school and I have to give up my job will I have to wait another 39 weeks before DWP helps with mortgage payments again?

Last time I saved for the shortfall before giving up my job but if I started back and i.e in 6 months have to give up my job...where would I stand? Will they restart the payments asap? Has the rules changed since new gov came in? Would I still get interest paid till end of mortgage?

Looks like you may have to wait only 13 weeks, but it may be payable for only two years. It'll depend which benefits you'd qualify for.

thank you oldladyknowing I could not find anything nowhere!

It is good news as if it doesn't work out I only have to wait 13 wks instead of 39! It makes a difference to now possibly giving work another go:)

See if you can get an appointment at CAB or maybe Shelter to check; it all depends on which benefit you'd be on.
