Looking to buy new personalised bags for kids' for school trip, but Letterbox web site says something about appointment of Joint Administators. Does that mean in administration? Is it safe to buy from them?

Letterbox is part of Hawkins, which, yes, is in administration. If you do place and recieve an order, it means you cant return it if you needed to, can only replace it. Personally I wouldnt take the chance! Also, they are still trading, but all email enquiries about existing orders are very late, and generic. So you dont stand a chance if you need help Sad

I just googled - it seems they belong to the same company as Hawkins Bazaar and their going into administration was announced on 31 December.

I'd be wary. If they are still trading, and the items you want are in stock, then you'd probably be OK. I'm less sure about personalised items - do they do the work themselves, and is it still happening? If it's in any way contracted out to another company who fears they might not get paid, they might freeze at any point.

Have you rung them? A person at the company might be able to describe the current situation. But those with unfulfilled orders refunds are pretty low down the list of list of creditors to be paid back before the money runs out altogether.

I have ordered loads of stuff from Hawkins' sale since they went into administration (stocking up present cupboard with bargains) and (so far, cross fingers) it has been fine, but I am not sure I would risk personalised stuff as that is made to order. If you do order, make sure you pay be credit card or some other means which will give you another route to recover the money if it does go wrong (I chose paypal, but admit that I haven't read the small print to know if that was sensible or not)

Thanks all. It looks like the personalised has been removed from their site anyway so I'll go elsewhere.

Have you seen the personalised stuff at www.brightminds.co.uk ...they have lots and I reckon you would be safer there...
