Any experience/comments appreciated on guaranteed car finance - is it a rip off ?

Have managed to get to the ripe old age of 41 without buying one on the tick so to speak. DH has a great company car but mine is a wreck.
I cant get credit due a bad credit history caused thro a horrid series of events inc redundancy . We are now in a position to comfortably afford a car but it will be at least 2 years before i would pass a credit check. I could/ should prob save but tbh need a new boiler and conservatory first ! Im looking just a teeny bit at the guaranteed car finace-if its really a rip off ill wait but if anyone has any positive exp and the APR isnt too high i could think about looking to change my car iyswim.
Many thanks .

i think that a lot of them are only guaranteed so long as you meet quite specific criteria. and they do seem to have very high APR by comparison to normal finance deals.
