HB question - redundancy related

Asking for a friend.

Single parent, about to be made redundant. What is the max amount she can have in her bank account for her to be able to claim HB? She has no savings so the redundancy money would just be it.

TIA

I think more than 6000 will affect the amount of housing benefit she can receive. More than 16000 and entitlement will be nil. Also if she deliberately spends the money in order to be able to claim benefit, it could be seen as deprivation of capital, and she would be assessed as if she still had the money.

Thanks. I thought it was 6k as well but wasn't sure.

She only works PT so she will probably get just over that anyway.
