Legal age for different sex children to have separate bedrooms?

Someone told me once that different sex children should legally be in separate bedrooms from the age of five. Is this true? (It means a house move if it is!)

No legal age but many councils/housing associations have a separate bedrooms from 10 yrs policy. Whether that actually translates into a move is a different matter though and depends on the housing situation in your area.

SM is right. There isnt a legal age. it's POLICY for assessing how how many bedrooms you are entitled to based on family size. So if you have father, mother and two adorable children of the same sex, you are usually entitled to a two bedroom property until the oldest is a teenager. if the kids are of opposite sex, then you are entitled to three bedrooms when the oldest of the kids hits ten. Then is subject to availability and these days the living room is viewed as a habitable room is most areas.

Also, in divorce cases where different sex children were involved, the courts used to use 7 as the cut-off age for sharing a room. So that the primary carer would possibly be entitled to a greater share of the pot to buy a house with more bedrooms.
