DP just as useless. We've come full circle and are now considering the online conveyancing people again. Have so far narrowed it down to two firms, this one sent a very competitive quote and also a email explaining a bit about them. However this one states no hidden extras and seems a bit more well established I think

Totally boring I know, but need to make a decision ASAP as this has been dragging on now (not my fault, but agent quite rightly wants to know!!)

no more extras is important

we got stiffed for extra costs hidden in small print when we moved (because we completed in 5 days less we were charged £5 per day for each contract .. buying and selling)

at the end of the day it makes no odds .. just make a decision

Thanks Twiglett. Still sat here!!

You could ask them both if they have previous client recommendations? I'm with Twiglett though - no extras is a good thing

Twiglett · 30/12/2005 16:46

of ffs .. pick up the phone and call the second one .. what do you think is going to happen?

(stern matronly voice on now)

Do the banks accept this for mortgages etc or does it have to be a solicitor?these both look good value

FlossNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/12/2005 16:50

The second one? Really, do you think so? Should I? I mean, what if they are mean to me?

Then you can be mean back! You are never going to meet them - jusy use them for this transaction. Anyway you are their customer so will always be right...!

FlossNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/12/2005 17:07

Probably not. DP getting cold feet, finances not too hot, me sat here not phoning...

Please don't shout but I've emailed the first one to see if they will give the same not hidden extras garentee. It's only a small firm with two partners, so might be a bit more personal. But then, thinking of it now, won't have enough time to deal with us? But then sent an email which seemed genuinely personal within 12hrs of quote request. Bahh. How the hell do I manage at work? How do I do manage without MN?
