I have my own small business, but I am struggling to do my accounts because I also have 3 young children. A friend has offered to do my book keeping and my tax return. How much should I pay her by the hour to do this ?

Suggest you check local agencies and benchmark some prices.

A professional would charge about £25 per hour in the southeast.

I would check agencies and I would think long and hard about the tax return being filled in by someone who is not yourself and not a tax specialist. If you have simple accounts it is really very easy and I did it for many years. Now I have more complex affairs the money I spend on my tax accountant is worth every penny.
