Am I right in thinking that if you are already a SAHM then you are not entitled to any maternity allowance from government when you have your second child?

It depends on how many NI contributions you have made in the past (not sure how much time).

I was in this position, but because I had (technically, was actually on sick leave) returned to work after the first pregnancy, then paid NI contributions for self-employment (a couple of pound per week) for the rest of the qualifying period, have received full MA.
