Hi, just found out i am pregnant and was thinking about if i will get any maternity benefit.

I am self emlployed but have been on incapacity benefit the last couple months (off sick)

What will happen? will i just continue to get incapacity benefit or will i be able to claim maternity allowance? I would be better off on maternity allowance to be honest as i only get £116 per fortnight at the moment.

My husband works and gets a fair decnt wage, the incapacity benefit is because i wont get SSP because i am self employed.

I dont think i will be classed as low income to get the sure start thing, its just maternity pay i cant work out.

I think i should get maternity allowance (because of self employment) but not sure if they will just keep me on IB and say i cant apply for MA.
