When do you pay your tax bill? Is it X time after the return is submitted or do they always wait til After Jan?

Dh sent his in early to get it over with as he was owed money due to redundancy/ pay cut etc.

It was submitted a few weeks ago so will they bill him soon or next year?

I usually send my return in a bit early but the bill doesn't come until January, with payment due by Jan 31st.

But what you can do is call them up, plead ignorance and give them the details of the tax return you've filled out and ask them - nicely - if they'll tell you how much you owe. They'll tell you there and then, and then at least you can put that money aside to make sure it's not frittered away over Christmas. Grin

you can pay it early if you don't trust yourself to hang onto the money!!

they ran out of paper in Jul and didn't send out payment on account statements to everyone - maybe they are on catch up!
