SMP ending

Hopefully someone here can help.

My SMP is due to end soon but as I took the full leave, I will have 13wks with no pay.

Does anyone know if I can claim Income Support for these weeks?

No as you have a DP. Only single parents can claim IS and it may not even be payable then if you are technically employed but choosing to take unpaid leave.

WTC dont apply whilst you are on the unpaid maternity leave as well.

Did you not put anything aside to cover the planned maternity leave?

I had to take the full year as I wouldn't be able to get childcare til November this year.

Think perhaps you need to explore alternatives to enable you to return sooner, sorry. CMs may have a vacancy when older kids start school. Can you ask at your local Surestart or HV for a list?

No SureStart centres in Glasgow. None of the childminders can take a baby and all the nurseries have large waiting lists.

I'm sure we'll manage somehow
