blue badge application-any experience?

I have rheumatoid arthritis and am turning into a prisoner in my house - I talked to my GP who supports my blue badge application but I've just had it turned down.
Cried all day as thought it would open some doors for me finally.
Am appealing but local council want to make me wait 6 months to appeal. Told criteria unable to walk but checked act and is actually unable to walk or considerable difficulty in walking.
Anyone any advice am feeling desperate as have new baby and am so cut off from world - am barely ambulatory and only go out with dh's help (he works full time).
Afraid did'nt say all 'right' things on form but GP told me he did..........help please

do u have DLA? high rate mobility often gets you a badge no probs in most councils.

thanks misdee
don't currently claim any benefots as sahm and not sure I can get anything? know would be signed off if working.......am going to look into benefits further but have to break these problems down piecemeal - right now can't get to citizens advice, benefit office or anywhere as too ill and live in the sticks.......

Several years ago my dd got a blue badge and she got high rate personal care and lowest rate mobility allowance dla.

She could walk, in fact she walked to school, but the pain she experienced was bad enough for her to qualify.

If I were you I would appeal.

DLA is not means tested, if you are finding it hard to walk then u should essentially be entitled. you can down load the forms here they are depressing, focus opn what u cant do not what u can.

bless you both for input - am hauling myself up by bootstraps and starting to try to systematically work this out - have appealed blue badge and am looking into other benefits etc.
havwe also requested social services assesment as things out of hand at home - I can't manage the washing & general housework etc......... can't bathe my older children etc etc; probably entitled to nowt but am trying to find out which is huge step for me.
