Cancelling DDs in favour of charities

I am thinking of stopping some of my regular payments by DD to charity. I don't want to but we've cut back in all other areas and I can't afford to be too soft-hearted. What happens if I just stop them? Do I have to tell the organisations before I do so?

No. You just stop them.

They will probably contact you to guilt trip you. If you don't want to explain your finances, you could always say that you rotate the charities you donate to and they have reached the end of their turn.

Thanks.

I feel really bad but I have to prioritise.

Of course you do. When times are hard you have to cut back. When they are hard hard, everything but the essentials must go.
