Hi - I am new to this site so I am not 100% sure if I am even posting this question in the right area but...

I have been a single parent for 3 years and have now met someone. I would like to move in with him at the end of the month to his flat which he has a mortgage on.
This would mean I would need to hand my notice in on my flat on stop claiming housing benefit and tax credits which I am more than happy to do. But does anyone know what the process is of notifying the correct people? And is there a long process to it or can I just simply give my benefits and give then a date of when to stop them?

Would really like to get the ball rolling, if there is anyone who could help me, that would be great. Thanks. x

I would call the relevant helplines for any benefits that you receive, tell them about your new circumstances, follow up with a letter and keep a copy for your records. That way, everyone has been informed and, if anything goes wrong in the future, you can point to the hard-copies as evidence that they were notified.
