Childcare Vouchers - are they going to be scrapped?

DH and I have accrued loads over a maternity leave and are trying to work out how much we can reduce our contributions by - we have a vague idea that they were going to be scrapped in the next couple of years but may have missed a U-turn? Please help - this matters to our monthly breadline!

The previous government did announce they intended to scrap them, then they realised that there was going to be an election [doh!] so they changed their mind Hmm. The new government have always said they were going to keep childcare vouchers but restrict tax relief for those paying higher rate tax (but not if you are already in the scheme - great choice for job mobility there Angry) and a new system came into operation this month to implement this.

This seems to make most people happy (except the companies that have to administer this stupid system, and companies don't vote) so it is unlikely there is going to be any further change in the medium term IMHO.

Cheers, that helps a lot. We have no hope of ever having our lives complicated by higher rate tax so that's fine. Time for a wee CCV holiday for us, just when we could do with some extra cash. Bonus!
