Bit strapped for cash, wondering about selling platinum and diamond engagement ring. Is it dreadful to think about doing this? Would a high street pawn brokers be best plAce to sell. It has actually got bit scratched and diamond is wobbling in its setting.

If you are going to sell it take a walk around a few jewellers and see what price they would give. Pawn brokers and ?cash for gold put it in an envelope and we?ll send you a cheque? are a definite no no.

If you are still married I?d keep it, you?ll probably be a bit gutted about how much you?d get unfortunately. Most gold etc sells for scrap value anyway so before you sell anything precious have a look about for any bits you have that are broken or things you won?t wear again (in most cases all they do is plonk the whole lot on the scales to work out a price anyway).

You will get far more for it if you can sell it privately eg eBay or through loot/local paper etc, although still unlikely to be anywhere near what it's worth! Unless it's no longer got any sentimental value, I think you need to consider it carefully before you sell it.
