DH's wages were short this month by a few hundred quid. They have given us back most of it, but because standing orders for things like electric / insurance were bounced, we're been charged nearly all of that again in fees by the bank!! And we still don't get any more money until the 15th, so have five to feed / work petrol to provide on £68 a week. Can't be donw (petrol and bridge fees are £40).

Can we ask dh's work to cover the fees they caused us to incur, or are we going to get laughed out of there?

You can certainly ask - if they admit it was an error then I can;t see why not.

When I started in my job one year they "forgot" to pay me altogether. I kicked up a stink and showed thenm the letters and statements showing I had been charged etc for no p[ayment of mortgage, bounced cheques etc and they refunded the charges.

Additionally - if they refuse I would go and get an hours free legal advice on it (and tell them that too). As long as you have evidence then can't see a problem.
