Short term life cover

Has anyone experienced this scenario and what did you do?

My DH is changing jobs soon. His old job contract will terminate on one date. Then he's taking a week off. Then he starts his new job the following week. He will have no employment contract for about one week.

Call me a stress head if you will, but.... what if something terrible happens to him in that week. He has life cover with his current employer as death in service benefit. And will have the same with his new employer. But for one week he'll have nothing. The mortgage is covered but that's all.

Can you even get really really short term life cover for a month??

I think, if you shop around and are prepared to pay through the nose, you'll find some company willing to cover your husband's life for a short period of time. However, if your mortgage capital is already covered and if he doesn't engage in risky activities like riding a motorbike or hang-gliding, then I think you'd be better off to relax and trust that fate hasn't got it in for him just because his life is uninsured. Do you suffer a lot with anxiety?
