Our flat is our home but we could go on hols for a few week and rent out our flat for the olympic games...
Does anyone know anything about doing something like this?

or is thinking about doing it?

Thank you!

I was thinking the same. We only have a two bedroom terraced house and it's on the wrong side of London. But close to the trains direct to Waterloo.

I was in Australia for Sydney 2000 and they say some people were able to pay their mortgage for a year on the rent they got for the duration of the Olympics....

Very intersted to see how this goes.....

Insurance

Putting stuff into storage

Cleaning

Damage

You would need to cost all of this out.

Also don't forget that as most visitors have a choice between your house and a hotel, it has to be at least up to a certain luxurious standard if you're looking to make a bit from the rental. The location matters as well - I can see how if you own a flat in Stratford, you could probably rent it out for like £150+/day if you wanted to if it was up to a high spec.
