Hi,
Ive just read that on 6th April 2011 the baby element of child tax credit is being removed.
I am having my 2nd child by C-sect on 30th March so Im assuming that means I wont get it now.
Im just wondering how much the baby element is at the moment, am I right in thinking its double the child tax credit for an over 1 year old just so I know what I wont be getting lol.
Also does anyone know how much I will get for my 2nd son, will it be the same as what I get for my 1st son at the moment?
Just some background info, neither me or my DP are working at the moment as we were both made redundant and are currently living on jobseekers allowence, Child benefit for my 4 yr old and CTC for my 4 yr old son also.

Many thanks :)

Yes baby element was £545 a year but it finishes 5 April so you'll get a few days worth.

you won't get the same for your 2nd son as the first son as your payment for the 1st son will include family element. The amount you get will depend on lots of factors but the maximum you can get is £2,555 per annum

The child benefit you get for your 2nd child is less, it will be £13.40 (compared to £20.30) a week.

At the moment you should be getting approx

£54.71 per week child tax, with it going upto £59.61 in april for one child.

When you second child is added on it should be approx £108.75 per week,on april 2011 rates.

Child benefit £20.30 for eldest child and £13.40 for younger child per week.

Good luck with new baby.

Sorry forgot to add you will be losing about £10 per week, because they are stopping the baby element.Atm the baby element is £545 per year.

Thanks so much for your help, I can remember when having my 1st DS we seemed to recieve a decent amount when he was little and then when he turned one we lost quite a large amount of it, which was what was making me think the baby element made up a large amount?
Its nice to have some rough figures to work with as I have no clue lol
Many thanks for the good luck too Honeybare :)

Just out of interest, was i about right with the amounts that you get atm?
If im right with those, the other amounts should be right also.

I worked out the CTC just a couple of pounds less a week than you said but I was dividing the monthly about by 4 and I think thats probably not the right way to do it as there are more weeks some months than others Hmm
I know the Child benefit is defo right cos its the same for everyone.
So think you were pretty spot on and hopefully are right about what we will be getting.

Thankyou :)
