Does anyone know please if the current cut off point of £16,190 for claiming free school meals is going to increase, stay the same, or decrease from this April?

Is it the same for free prescriptions, glasses, dentist as well?

Also, I don't currently get WTC, but I don't know at what income you cease to be elible for it - I know you get full WTC for being on less than £6040, and then it will be "tapered" at 41% of everything earnt after that - so does anyone know that "magic figure" of when you get zero WTC please?

TIA!

Rates and thresholds are here

There is no 'magic figure' - it all depends on how many children you have, whether you're claiming childcare costs, whether any are disabled etc.

Thanks Daisy - it says the limit of £16,190 will be dropping to £15,860, so I am assuming that there will be a lot of people will be missing out by being just over the limit! But if I've added everything up right, then the WTC I should get then would be equal to the cost of school meals - I just still won't be able to get free dentist or prescriptions etc.

I don't get free school meals because I get WTC (even though my income including WTC/CTC etc is under the threashold Hmm ), but I am still entitled to an NHS card that gives me free prescriptions and eye check up etc.

I had to apply for it separately though - there was some info in the paperwork they sent with my WTC/CTC award and I just phoned the number to apply for it. After that they send it to you automatically if you still qualify.
